Citizens Bank branch pages separate staffed lobby access from drive-up and ATM availability. Saturday banking is offered at many locations, but the branch format matters: some offices close on Saturday, while supermarket branches can follow a different schedule.
Lobby Hours Are the Staffed Banking Clock
For a normal Citizens branch visit, the lobby schedule is the relevant clock for services that require access to branch employees. Official location pages commonly show a weekday lobby pattern centered on 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with shorter Saturday service and Sunday closure.
That pattern appears across standard branches in several parts of Citizens’ footprint, including locations in Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. It is useful as a typical schedule rather than a promise that every Citizens office follows the same hours.
There are identifiable exceptions. Citizens branches around parts of New York, for example, can remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday even when Monday through Thursday end at 4:00 p.m. Location format can create a larger difference: Citizens offices inside Stop & Shop stores have been listed with later opening times and longer Saturday hours than the typical standalone branch pattern.
Saturday Banking Is Common, but Not Universal
Many Citizens branch pages list a Saturday lobby window from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The same Saturday window is also shown for drive-up service at numerous branches that have a drive-up lane.
Saturday opening should not be treated as a network-wide rule. The Citizens Church branch in New Haven, Connecticut, for example, lists its lobby as closed on both Saturday and Sunday, while nearby Citizens branches in the same area list Saturday morning service. This means two branches only a few miles apart can have different weekend availability.
Supermarket locations form another distinct branch type. Citizens offices inside some Stop & Shop stores list Saturday lobby service later into the afternoon, rather than using the noon closing seen at many standard branches.
Drive-Up Service Does Not Exist at Every Citizens Branch
Citizens location pages identify lobby and drive-up schedules separately when a branch has drive-up banking. At many traditional branches, the drive-up window follows the same staffed schedule as the lobby.
Other Citizens offices are explicitly marked as having no drive-up. This is common enough that the presence of a branch does not automatically mean drive-up transactions are available there. Urban offices and in-store branches are among the location formats where a drive-up lane may be absent.
| Service or location type | Schedule note |
|---|---|
| Standard branch with drive-up | Lobby and drive-up are listed separately and often use matching staffed hours. |
| Branch without drive-up | The location page identifies the branch as having no drive-up service. |
| Supermarket branch | Lobby hours can follow a different schedule from a typical standalone Citizens office. |
| Branch with 24-hour ATM | ATM access can continue after the staffed lobby and drive-up have closed. |
ATM Access Can Continue After the Branch Closes
A closed Citizens lobby does not necessarily mean the location is unavailable for basic self-service banking. Official pages for branches such as North Smithfield, Rhode Island, and Pluckemin, New Jersey, list their ATMs as open 24 hours throughout the week even though staffed banking ends much earlier.
Citizens also treats ATM and ITM availability as a separate search function from branch lobby access. The bank’s locator can identify branches, ATMs and interactive teller machines, while individual branch pages show the access details available at that address.
This distinction matters on evenings, Sundays and other times when teller service is unavailable. An ATM can remain accessible even though transactions that require a banker, teller or open lobby must wait for staffed branch hours.
In-Store Branches Can Run on a Different Clock
Citizens operates some branches inside supermarkets, and these locations should not be grouped automatically with standalone offices. A Citizens Stop & Shop branch in Westboro, Massachusetts, for example, lists lobby hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The same type of schedule appears at other Citizens Stop & Shop locations, while nearby standard branches can use the more familiar 9:00 a.m. weekday opening and noon Saturday closing. In-store branches also commonly lack drive-up access, which further changes which banking channels are available during their posted hours.
Legal Holidays Affect Processing Days, Not Just Branch Visits
Citizens defines a banking business day differently from a calendar day. Its account-service information excludes Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays when explaining when certain deposits are considered received and processed. A deposit made on Saturday, for example, can move to Tuesday for processing when the following Monday is a legal holiday.
That processing rule should not be used by itself as a branch-hours calendar. Citizens’ current branch materials reviewed for this schedule do not provide one complete national list assigning an open, closed or reduced-hours status to every common U.S. holiday, so no unverified holiday schedule is applied to the hours calendar above.
Citizens also provides appointment booking from its branch finder. For transactions that need time with a banker rather than an ATM or routine teller visit, appointment availability is therefore a separate consideration from the posted lobby opening window.
