Hours Locator Legal
How correction submissions, contact messages, and limited technical records are handled.
Last updated: July 19, 2026Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Hours Locator handles information submitted through hours-correction forms, contact forms, and direct email. It also describes limited technical information that may be processed to operate, secure, and maintain the website.
This policy applies to Hours Locator pages and forms. It does not control the privacy practices of businesses, public offices, official locators, or other third-party websites linked from Hours Locator.
Information You Provide
Correction and source submissions
Hours-correction forms may ask for the page being reported, the business or office name, location details, a date, the hours currently displayed, the proposed correction, an explanation, an optional source link, and an optional email address.
Contact messages
When a visitor uses the contact form or sends an email, Hours Locator receives the information included in that message and the sender information needed to reply.
Sensitive information
Do not submit passwords, payment-card details, government identification numbers, medical records, account credentials, or other sensitive personal information. Hours Locator does not need that information to review opening-hours corrections.
Information Collected Automatically
The web server, hosting provider, security tools, and form system may process basic technical records such as an IP address, browser type, device type, requested page, date and time, referring page, error information, and security events.
These records are used for site delivery, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, form reliability, and security. They are not intended to identify a visitor by name unless the visitor also provides identifying information.
How Information Is Used
- Review and verify reported opening-hours corrections.
- Reply to questions or request missing details.
- Compare a submitted source with the information shown on a page.
- Maintain a record of important editorial decisions and repeated corrections.
- Protect forms and the website against spam, fraud, automated abuse, and security threats.
- Diagnose technical problems and improve page or form usability.
- Comply with a valid legal obligation or protect legal rights.
Optional email addresses submitted through correction forms are used for correction follow-up and related support. They are not displayed publicly with the correction.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Hours Locator may use technical storage that is necessary for website operation, security, form processing, or user preferences. The public-facing Cookie Policy should not list advertising, analytics, consent, or marketing technologies until the website’s actual configuration has been verified.
If non-essential advertising or analytics systems are introduced, the relevant disclosures and consent controls will be added or updated as required. Visitors should rely on the current cookie notice or consent interface, when present, for the active configuration.
Sharing and Service Providers
Information may be processed by providers that support website hosting, security, backups, form delivery, email delivery, and technical maintenance. Those providers receive only the information reasonably needed to perform their services.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful process, investigate abuse, protect the website or its users, or address a security incident.
Hours Locator does not sell optional email addresses submitted through correction or contact forms.
Public Use of Correction Information
A correction submission is not automatically published. Hours Locator may use the factual portion of a verified correction to update an article, hours table, holiday note, source record, or editorial review log.
The submitter’s email address and private message content are not published unless the submitter clearly requests publication and publication is appropriate.
Retention
Messages and correction records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to review the request, maintain editorial accountability, prevent repeated abuse, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Technical logs may be retained according to the hosting, security, and backup systems used by the website.
Records that are no longer needed should be deleted, anonymized, or allowed to expire through the relevant system’s retention process.
Third-Party Links
Hours Locator links to official store locators, government pages, business websites, and other external sources. Opening an external link may allow that third party to collect information under its own privacy policy. Hours Locator is not responsible for those external practices.
Children’s Privacy
Hours Locator is a general-audience information website and is not directed to children under 13. The forms are intended for adults and other users who can responsibly submit correction information. A child should not submit personal information through the forms.
If personal information from a child under 13 is identified, a parent or guardian may request its deletion by contacting the support address below.
Privacy Choices and Requests
A visitor may ask whether Hours Locator holds personal information submitted through a form or email and may request correction or deletion where reasonably verifiable and legally applicable. A request should include enough information to identify the original message without sending new sensitive data.
Certain records may need to be retained for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or the defense of legal claims.
Security
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to reduce unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or misuse. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so visitors should limit submissions to information needed for the request.
Policy Changes and Contact
This policy may be updated when the site’s forms, hosting, security, advertising, analytics, or legal obligations change. A revised page will show a new “Last updated” date.
