Hours Locator is an independent information site and is not affiliated with Hy-Vee.

A Hy-Vee supermarket can remain open after its pharmacy, customer service counter, prepared-food departments, or pickup operation has closed. Store format also matters because full-service supermarkets, Hy-Vee Drugstores, Dollar Fresh locations, and Fast & Fresh stores do not share one chainwide schedule.

The Main Store Clock Does Not Cover Every Hy-Vee Service

The hours displayed for the main grocery store describe access to the supermarket rather than every staffed department inside it. Official Hy-Vee location pages commonly publish a separate department list beneath the primary store schedule.

Pharmacies, floral departments, customer service counters, Market Grille locations, Starbucks counters, wine and spirits departments, and prepared-food stations may each open later or close earlier. A shopper entering the supermarket near closing time may therefore be able to buy groceries but not fill a prescription, place a floral order, make a return, or order from a staffed food counter.

How Hy-Vee service schedules are separated
Service or location typeSchedule note
Main grocery storeControls general shopping access but does not guarantee that staffed departments are operating.
Hy-Vee PharmacyUses its own weekday, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday schedule. Some pharmacies also list a midday closure.
Aisles OnlinePickup and delivery windows are listed separately and depend on the ordering location.
Fast & Fresh or fuel serviceThe staffed convenience store and fuel pumps may have different access periods.
Prepared food and diningKitchen, Hy-Chi, Market Grille, Italian, sushi, and coffee counters can stop service before grocery closing.

Hy-Vee Store Formats Follow Different Schedules

Full-service Hy-Vee supermarkets are only one part of the company’s location network. The official store directory also includes Hy-Vee Drugstores, Dollar Fresh stores, Fast & Fresh convenience locations, HealthMarket Rx pharmacies, and other specialized formats.

Official pages for full supermarkets currently show examples of daily schedules ending at either 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. A Hy-Vee Drugstore may use a shorter retail day, while a Dollar Fresh location can follow another opening and closing pattern. These format differences make a single national timetable unsuitable for the entire network.

The available services change with the format as well. A full supermarket may list a pharmacy, online grocery service, floral counter, dining options, and a nearby fuel location. A smaller drugstore or convenience format may not provide the same departments, even when it appears under the broader Hy-Vee name.

Weekend Differences Are Most Visible at the Pharmacy

Many full Hy-Vee supermarkets keep the same main-store schedule throughout the week, but pharmacy coverage frequently changes on Saturday and Sunday. Official location pages show pharmacies with reduced Saturday hours, later Sunday openings, earlier Sunday closings, or no Sunday service at certain drugstore locations.

This distinction matters for prescription pickup, pharmacist consultations, immunizations, and other services requiring pharmacy staff. General merchandise sold outside the prescription counter may still be available while the pharmacy itself is closed.

Customer service, floral, wine and spirits, and dining departments can also use shorter weekend schedules. State alcohol rules and the operating model of the individual store may affect when a wine and spirits department is staffed.

Pickup and Delivery Use Their Own Operating Windows

Hy-Vee identifies online grocery pickup and delivery as separate services on participating store pages. The order window is not automatically equal to the supermarket’s public shopping hours.

Several official full-store pages list pickup beginning later than the grocery store opens, with delivery beginning later still. The final available order slot may also occur before or near the store’s closing time. Selecting a different Hy-Vee can change the services, available time slots, and fulfillment methods presented during checkout.

An open supermarket therefore does not guarantee immediate curbside pickup or delivery. The relevant schedule is the fulfillment window attached to the order rather than the front-door closing time.

Fuel Pumps Can Outlast the Staffed Convenience Store

Some Hy-Vee locations include a Fast & Fresh convenience store or an associated fuel station. Official location pages distinguish between staffed store hours and pump access, and several identify pay-at-the-pump service as available 24 hours.

This does not mean that the convenience store, cashier, food counter, car wash, or every fuel-site service operates overnight. Customers who need staff assistance, cash payment, merchandise, or another attended service must use the staffed Fast & Fresh schedule rather than the pump-access period.
