Market Basket publishes a standard weekly schedule for its supermarkets, including a shorter Sunday shopping window. Separately listed formats such as MB Beer & Wine can follow a different opening pattern from the main grocery store.
The Published Store Clock Covers the Main Supermarket
The hours shown for a regular Market Basket location apply to the supermarket as a whole. Individual location pages present the store address, telephone number, available departments and one main opening schedule.
Official pages for stores in Massachusetts and New Hampshire follow the chain’s published weekly pattern. The location listing therefore functions differently from chains that divide their schedules by region, store size or franchise operator.
The published store clock should not automatically be interpreted as a separate guaranteed schedule for every staffed counter. Market Basket location pages commonly identify departments but do not normally provide an independent timetable beside each department name.
Sunday Uses a Shorter Shopping Window
Sunday is the main recurring difference in Market Basket’s standard week. The stores follow a shorter Sunday window than the Monday-through-Saturday schedule displayed by the company.
This distinction matters for late-evening shopping. A closing time that applies on a weekday or Saturday should not be carried over to Sunday, even when the same store opens at its usual morning time.
Department Availability Changes by Location
Market Basket stores do not all contain the same combination of departments. Some official store pages list Market’s Kitchen, Market’s Café, sushi or beer and wine, while other locations show a more limited department set.
| Service or location type | Schedule note |
|---|---|
| Standard Market Basket supermarket | The official location page publishes one overall store schedule. |
| Market’s Kitchen, Café or sushi department | The department may be listed as available without a separately published department timetable. |
| Beer and wine inside a supermarket | Availability is identified on the store page and depends on the specific location. |
| Separately listed MB Beer & Wine location | The location can publish hours that differ from the neighboring supermarket. |
A department appearing on one store page does not establish that it is offered throughout the chain. For example, official pages for larger locations may include Market’s Kitchen, Market’s Café and sushi, while another nearby store may list only the core grocery, meat, produce, dairy and delicatessen departments.
MB Beer & Wine Is a Separate Hours Case
MB Beer & Wine should be treated as its own location when the company provides a separate official listing. It is not safe to apply the supermarket’s opening time merely because the two businesses share an address or shopping center.
At the Hanover, Massachusetts location, the official MB Beer & Wine listing shows an 8:00 a.m. opening Monday through Saturday and a 10:00 a.m. opening on Sunday. The adjacent Market Basket supermarket opens earlier under the regular grocery-store schedule.
This difference is especially relevant for customers purchasing products available only through the separately listed beer and wine operation. The supermarket may already be open while that location remains closed, even though both listings use the same street address.
