Santander Bank separates staffed branch access from drive-up teller and ATM availability. Saturday banking is offered at many standard branches, but it is not available at every location, and some branches keep longer hours on Friday.
Saturday Banking Is Common but Not Available at Every Branch
A recurring Santander schedule across many standard branches is weekday service beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a shorter Saturday window ending around early afternoon. Official branch listings in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other markets show numerous locations operating from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
That pattern should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every Santander branch opens Saturday. Some branches in central business districts and other location formats are listed as closed on both Saturday and Sunday. For example, Santander locations can exist only a short distance apart while following different weekend schedules.
Sunday closure remains the common pattern among standard Santander Bank branches. The bank’s location finder nevertheless includes an Open Sunday filter, which is useful for identifying the smaller number of locations or special formats with Sunday access.
Branch, Drive-Up and ATM Hours Use Different Clocks
| Service or location type | Schedule note |
|---|---|
| Staffed branch | Controls access to in-person branch staff. Saturday availability depends on the individual branch. |
| Drive-up teller | Listed separately at branches that offer drive-up teller service. It can follow the branch schedule but remains a distinct service window. |
| Branch ATM | Many Santander branch pages list their on-site ATMs as available 24 hours, including when staffed banking is closed. |
| ATM inside another retailer | ATMs at locations such as CVS or Target can depend on the host store’s access hours rather than Santander branch hours. |
This distinction is especially useful on evenings, weekends and holidays. A closed lobby does not automatically mean the associated ATM is unavailable, while an ATM located inside another business may become inaccessible when that business closes.
Friday Closing Time Is a Common Local Difference
The typical weekday pattern shown above uses a 5:00 p.m. closing time because it appears repeatedly across Santander’s official branch listings. Friday is one of the days where individual branches commonly depart from that baseline.
Some Santander branches remain open until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while others continue to close at 5:00 p.m. Branch pages in parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut provide examples of the later Friday schedule, while other locations retain the standard weekday closing time.
Location format can produce larger differences. Certain urban, mall or special-format locations may open later in the morning or follow a schedule that does not resemble a typical neighborhood branch. The branch type therefore matters as much as the city when planning an in-person visit.
Holiday Hours Are Not Published as One Fixed Branch Schedule
Santander’s official individual location pages state that operating hours can change for holidays or location-specific closures. The current official location information does not support treating one annual holiday timetable as a guaranteed schedule for every U.S. branch, so a fixed holiday open-or-closed table is not shown here.
There is also an important distinction between a banking Business Day and the physical opening of a branch. Santander’s deposit-availability information excludes Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays from its definition of a Business Day for deposit processing. That rule affects transaction timing; it does not by itself establish whether a particular branch lobby or ATM will be accessible on a holiday.
ATM Access Can Continue After Staffed Banking Ends
Many Santander branch listings show an on-site walk-up or drive-up ATM operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This creates a separate access window from teller or banker availability. A branch that closes Friday evening and remains closed Sunday can still have an associated ATM listed for continuous access.
Not every Santander-branded ATM follows that pattern. The bank also has ATMs inside third-party retail locations, and those machines can be available only while the host location is open. Santander’s location finder distinguishes branches, ATMs and financial centers and also provides service filters such as deposit-accepting ATMs and drive-up tellers.
For transactions that require a banker rather than an ATM, Santander also provides an appointment option for its branch network. The relevant time is the staffed branch or appointment window, not the ATM schedule shown for the same address.
