AutoZone stores follow a recognizable weekly schedule across many U.S. markets, but there is no single closing time used by every location. Sunday schedules and late-closing urban stores account for some of the clearest differences.
A Common Store Schedule Appears Across Many AutoZone Markets
Current AutoZone location pages across states including Illinois, Georgia, Colorado, New York and Washington show a recurring schedule for standard stores. Monday through Saturday is especially consistent in many of these locations, which makes a national typical schedule useful even though it is not a guarantee for every store.
The pattern is not limited to one city or region. Stores in suburban Chicago, the Atlanta area, Colorado Springs, Long Island and the Seattle-area market display closely related weekday and Saturday schedules. This repeated pattern is the basis for the representative hours shown above.
There are still meaningful local exceptions. Some stores open earlier, remain open an hour or more later, or use different Friday and Saturday closing times. AutoZone therefore publishes the actual weekly schedule on each individual store page rather than presenting one chainwide timetable as mandatory.
Sunday Is the Most Common Weekly Schedule Difference
Sunday is where the regular weekly pattern changes most often. Many stores open later on Sunday than they do from Monday through Saturday, and an earlier Sunday closing time is common in numerous markets.
The exact Sunday window is not uniform. Current location pages include stores opening at 8:00, 8:30 or 9:00 a.m., while closing times can range from early evening to the same closing time used on other days. Some locations keep nearly identical hours seven days a week.
This distinction matters when planning a weekend parts run. Saturday frequently follows the normal weekday pattern, while Sunday is more likely to use a shorter operating window.
Some AutoZone Stores Stay Open Much Later
A typical schedule does not capture AutoZone’s later-closing locations. Certain stores in major metropolitan and high-demand markets operate well beyond the representative evening closing time.
For example, current official pages show Houston-area stores that remain open until midnight, and some Los Angeles locations operate until 11:00 p.m. or midnight on selected days. Other stores in Arizona and New York close at 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. These are genuine AutoZone schedules rather than a chainwide extension.
Opening times can also move earlier at these locations. One Houston store currently begins service at 6:00 a.m., while many other AutoZone stores begin later in the morning. Late-night or early-opening access should therefore be treated as a property of the individual store rather than a national AutoZone feature.
Holiday Hours Can Override the Normal Store Schedule
AutoZone’s own location system can replace a normal day’s schedule with a Holiday Hours entry. Official store pages have shown both reduced holiday schedules and full-day closures, which means a fixed nationwide holiday table would not accurately describe every location.
Holiday treatment can also differ from the store’s normal weekend pattern. A location that ordinarily remains open into the evening may receive an earlier holiday closing time, while another location may be marked closed for the applicable date.
Because AutoZone does not currently provide a fully verified national policy covering every major U.S. holiday with one status for all stores, no annual open-or-closed holiday calendar is assumed here. Date-specific holiday overrides published for an individual store take precedence over its normal weekly schedule.
Store Pages Also Identify Available AutoZone Services
AutoZone location pages combine the store schedule with service information for that location. Commonly listed offerings include battery testing and charging, Fix Finder diagnostic assistance and, at many stores, buy-online pickup.
These service listings should not be interpreted as separate nationwide department schedules. Unlike a retailer with an independently timed pharmacy or service counter, AutoZone’s public location pages generally present the main store schedule first and then identify the services offered at that store. When a special operating condition applies, the location page itself is the relevant schedule record.
