Barnes & Noble does not publish one dependable opening and closing schedule for every U.S. bookstore. Each location has its own weekly hours, feature list and event calendar.
Barnes & Noble Publishes Hours at the Store Level
The Barnes & Noble store network uses individual location pages rather than a single national timetable. The weekly schedule attached to a selected bookstore is the relevant store clock for customer access.
Official listings reviewed for Washington, D.C., Phoenix, Columbus and New York show that stores can follow different opening patterns even when they provide similar retail services. The F Street store in Washington currently lists the same schedule throughout the week, while the Town & Country store in Phoenix and Dublin Sun Center store in Columbus publish shorter Sunday schedules than their Monday-through-Saturday schedules.
This makes a national or time-zone-based schedule unsuitable for Barnes & Noble. Two stores in different cities—and sometimes two stores in the same metropolitan area—can open or close at different times.
Sunday Is the Most Visible Weekly Schedule Difference
Several Barnes & Noble locations use a longer Monday-through-Saturday timetable and reduce their Sunday operating window. Other stores keep the same hours every day, so Sunday should not automatically be treated as an early-closing day across the chain.
Saturday hours can also differ from one location to another. A bookstore serving a shopping center may use a different weekend pattern from a downtown storefront, but the surrounding property’s schedule should not be substituted for the bookstore’s own published hours.
Weekly schedules can be revised for local operations, relocations, newly opened stores or temporary circumstances. The dated store listing is therefore more useful than an undated national-hours summary.
Store Features Are Separate From the Weekly Clock
Barnes & Noble location pages identify selected store features in addition to the weekly schedule. Depending on the location, these may include a Café, Toys & Games, Vinyl or Electronics.

A Café icon confirms that the selected store lists a café as a feature. It does not, by itself, establish a separate café opening or closing time. Where no department schedule is published, the bookstore’s weekly hours should not be presented as verified café hours.
Events Use Their Own Scheduled Times
Each Barnes & Noble detail page can include an events section for that particular store. Author events, children’s activities, readings and similar programs are scheduled for specific dates and times rather than operating as continuously available store services.
An event start time does not change the bookstore’s regular closing time unless the location publishes a special operating notice. Likewise, the absence of an event listing does not indicate that the store is closed.
Downtown, Mall and Shopping-Center Stores Have Separate Listings
The official directory includes downtown stores such as F Street and Fifth Avenue, along with locations identified by shopping centers and malls, including Town & Country, Bellevue Square, Alderwood Mall and Kitsap Mall. These locations do not share one format-based schedule.
The individual bookstore listing remains the controlling schedule record. Its weekly hours answer when the store is open, while the feature list and event calendar answer different questions about what is available and when a scheduled activity takes place.
