Georgia Aquarium does not use one fixed opening-and-closing schedule throughout the year. The operating calendar changes by date, and the final admission cutoff comes before the posted closing time.
Last Entry Is 30 Minutes Before the Aquarium Closes
Georgia Aquarium states that daily entry ends 30 minutes before closing. This distinction matters when planning an afternoon or evening visit because the closing time shown for a date is not the latest time a new visitor can enter.
For example, a 5:00 p.m. closing means daily entry ends at 4:30 p.m. If the Aquarium is scheduled to close at 8:00 p.m., entry ends at 7:30 p.m. The same 30-minute rule applies when a date has a later closing time.
This is the main cutoff for ordinary Aquarium admission. Special programs can publish their own check-in, entry, or ending times, so a separately ticketed event should not be treated as an extension of general-admission entry.
Opening and Closing Times Change by Date
Georgia Aquarium publishes its operating schedule through a date-based calendar rather than a single permanent weekly timetable. The opening time may remain similar across many dates while the closing time can move earlier or later depending on the season and the scheduled day.
Official 2026 calendar listings show this variation clearly. Some dates use a 5:00 p.m. closing, while selected weekends and busier seasonal periods extend into the evening. Summer calendar dates can also use later operating hours than dates in other parts of the year.
Because of that date-by-date structure, a fixed Monday-through-Sunday table would give a misleading impression that the same closing times apply every week. The relevant clock for a visit is the operating window assigned to the specific admission date.
Timed Admission and Aqua Pass Reservations Use Their Own Entry Process
Georgia Aquarium sells general admission by date and time, and its Aqua Pass also uses timed reservations. A reservation time determines when a guest plans to arrive, while the Aquarium’s posted closing time and 30-minute final-entry rule define the outer limit for normal admission that day.
Aqua Pass holders are required to make a reservation for each visit. Peak dates can have fewer preferred reservation times available, even when the Aquarium itself remains open.
There is another schedule layer inside the building: dolphin and sea lion presentations use their own presentation times and reservation procedures. A visitor entering before the Aquarium’s last-admission cutoff should not assume that every presentation or timed activity will still be available late in the day.
Open 365 Days Does Not Mean Every Date Uses the Same Hours
Georgia Aquarium states that it is open 365 days a year. That means holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day are not automatically treated as full-facility closure days.
Holiday operation should still be separated from the question of holiday hours. A holiday can be an open day while using a different operating window from nearby dates. Seasonal events can also create separate evening programs without changing the standard admission cutoff for daytime guests.
For the 2026 winter season, Georgia Aquarium has scheduled WinterTide programming from November into early January, along with selected after-hours events. These event sessions have their own start, last-entry, and ending times and should be treated as separate ticketed schedules rather than ordinary late-night Aquarium hours.
Aqua Pass Blackout Dates Are Not Aquarium Closure Dates
The distinction is especially useful around holidays. Georgia Aquarium’s 2026 Aqua Pass includes blackout dates when that pass cannot be used, including selected holiday and high-demand periods. Those blackout dates do not mean the Aquarium itself is closed.
For example, the published 2026 Aqua Pass calendar includes December 25 through December 30 among its blackout dates even though Georgia Aquarium describes the venue as open every day of the year. Visitors using standard admission and visitors relying on a pass therefore need to distinguish the building’s operating status from the admission rules attached to their ticket or pass product.
