Kohl’s does not publish one dependable opening and closing schedule for every U.S. store. Individual store pages provide the schedule and identify which pickup, return and in-store shopping services are available at that location.
Kohl’s Store Hours Are Set at the Location Level
Kohl’s location pages show meaningful differences between stores. Some locations close earlier on weekdays, while others operate later into the evening. Sunday opening and closing times can also differ from the Monday-through-Saturday pattern.
These differences are not limited to time zones or broad geographic regions. Stores within the same state or metropolitan area can use different schedules, and a location may display exception hours for a particular date. This makes a locator-only schedule more accurate than presenting one chainwide timetable.
The location page is also the place where Kohl’s identifies the store’s current services and features. Listings may include in-store pickup, an Amazon Returns Outpost, Sephora, fine jewelry, Babies“R”Us or other departments. The services shown are specific to that store rather than a promise that every Kohl’s location has the same layout.

Pickup Is Tied to Order Readiness
Choosing a store that is currently open does not mean an online order is ready to collect. Kohl’s sends a pickup confirmation after the selected store has prepared the order. That message also tells the customer where to retrieve it.
Depending on the location, pickup may take place at the Customer Service desk or in a designated Self-Pickup area. The customer should have the pickup confirmation and a government-issued ID. An alternate pickup person must be added to the order before collection when someone other than the purchaser will retrieve it.
This distinction matters near closing time. Store access is only one part of the pickup process; the order must first have reached ready-for-pickup status.
Amazon Returns Depend on Store Participation
Most Kohl’s stores accept eligible Amazon returns, with Anchorage, Alaska excluded from the program described in Kohl’s current return instructions. The Amazon return must be started through Amazon, and Kohl’s must appear as an available drop-off option for the item.
Amazon then provides a QR code for the participating Kohl’s location. The item and code are taken to the store’s Amazon return area, where an associate handles packing, labeling and shipment. A Kohl’s listing that specifically identifies an Amazon Returns Outpost provides stronger confirmation than assuming the service is present at every address.
Seasonal Schedules Can Override Normal Store Hours
Kohl’s publishes a chain-level holiday policy but does not assign one exact holiday time range to every location. Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are listed as store closures. Other holidays generally use standard or near-standard schedules, while the peak winter shopping period can introduce reduced, extended or otherwise adjusted hours.
Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Black Friday and the days leading up to Christmas can use special schedules. A store page may also show an exception for a specific date even when the surrounding week follows its usual pattern.
Which Kohl’s Clock Applies to the Visit
General shopping, checkout and most staffed services depend on the main store schedule. Online pickup also requires a ready-order notice, Amazon returns require an eligible return at a participating store, and departments such as Sephora are relevant only when the location page lists them.
For a visit involving more than ordinary shopping, the service listing is therefore as important as the opening and closing time. A store can be accessible while the requested order, return option or in-store department is unavailable.
