Panera Bread cafe schedules are published for individual bakery-cafes rather than as one nationwide timetable. Pickup, delivery and drive-thru options also depend on the services offered by the selected location.
Panera Cafe Hours Are Set by Location
Panera’s location directory shows a separate schedule for each bakery-cafe. Current official location pages demonstrate why a single opening and closing schedule would be misleading: some cafes open at 6:00 AM, others at 6:30 AM or 7:00 AM, while closing times can range from the evening into later nighttime hours.
The local cafe schedule is the relevant clock for dine-in access and most in-cafe ordering. A location’s page can also identify the services available there, so two Panera cafes in different cities may have different hours as well as different ordering options.
This distinction matters in markets with nontraditional locations. Panera’s directory includes standard bakery-cafes as well as locations identified for more limited service. A cafe’s listed format therefore provides useful context alongside its opening and closing times.
Pickup and Delivery Have Their Own Ordering Windows
Panera supports Rapid Pick-Up, curbside pickup where offered, and delivery ordering. These options should not automatically be treated as identical to the time the dining area is accessible.
For Rapid Pick-Up, customers place an order ahead and collect it through the pickup process provided by the selected cafe. Panera also supports curbside pickup at participating locations. The available choices appear during location or order selection rather than being guaranteed for every bakery-cafe.
Delivery has an additional service window. Panera states that delivery availability depends on the selected cafe and delivery area. Its current delivery information says orders can begin as early as 6:30 AM at eligible cafes and may be accepted as late as 9:00 PM, depending on the cafe’s operating schedule. Delivery hours can therefore end at a different point from a cafe’s posted closing time.
Some Panera Locations Are Pickup and Delivery Only
Not every Panera location follows the conventional dine-in bakery-cafe format. Panera’s official directory currently identifies certain locations as Pickup & Delivery Only. For example, its Chicago listings include locations carrying that designation.
For these locations, the operating schedule should be read as an ordering and fulfillment schedule rather than assumed to represent dining-room access. This is especially relevant when searching for a nearby Panera late in the day: an open ordering location does not necessarily mean that a traditional cafe seating area is available.
Drive-Thru and Drive-Thru Pickup Are Location Features
Panera also operates drive-thru service at selected bakery-cafes. The company specifically states that drive-thru is not available at every location, making it a location-level feature rather than a chainwide service.
At participating cafes, Panera also supports Drive-Thru Pick-Up for eligible orders placed ahead through its digital ordering system. This creates another service path that can matter when choosing a cafe, particularly when the goal is pickup rather than dining inside.
| Service or location type | Schedule note |
|---|---|
| Bakery-cafe | The individual location page provides the cafe’s opening and closing schedule. |
| Rapid Pick-Up or curbside | Availability is tied to the ordering options offered by the selected cafe. |
| Delivery | Service depends on the cafe, delivery area and available delivery ordering window. |
| Drive-thru | Only participating Panera locations provide this service. |
| Pickup & Delivery Only | These locations should not be assumed to provide a standard dine-in cafe experience. |
Breakfast Has an Earlier Menu Cutoff
Cafe closing time is not the cutoff for every Panera menu period. Panera currently states that most bakery-cafes serve the breakfast menu from opening until 10:30 AM. After that point, the main breakfast menu is no longer offered even though the cafe remains open for later meals and other available items.
This makes the local cafe schedule and the desired service two separate considerations. Someone arriving for lunch or dinner mainly needs the bakery-cafe’s operating hours, while a breakfast, delivery, curbside or drive-thru visit can involve an additional service or ordering cutoff.
