A Safeway location can operate several schedules at the same address. The grocery store may remain open when its pharmacy counter, fuel station or pickup service is following a different timetable.
The Main Store Clock Does Not Cover Every Safeway Service
Safeway does not use one dependable nationwide opening and closing schedule for every supermarket. Current official location pages show substantial differences among stores, including locations that close in the evening, stores that remain open until midnight and others with later operating hours.
The more important distinction for many visits is that the posted Store Hours apply to the grocery store itself. A location page may display separate schedules for its pharmacy and fuel station, while online-order services can have their own fulfillment windows.

Safeway Pharmacy Hours Can Include Midday Closures
Safeway Pharmacy should be treated as a separate service rather than as an extension of the grocery store schedule. Official pharmacy pages publish their own opening times and commonly show a break during the middle of the day.
The exact break is not identical across the chain. Some current pharmacy listings divide the day around a 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. closure, while other locations use a different midday interval. Weekend pharmacy schedules can also be shorter than weekday schedules.
This matters for prescription pickup, pharmacist assistance and other services that require the pharmacy counter to be staffed. An open Safeway supermarket does not mean its pharmacy is currently serving customers.
Fuel Stations Have a Separate Safeway Location Network
Safeway maintains a dedicated directory for its fuel stations, and fuel service is not available at every supermarket. Locations that do have a fuel station may display Fuel Station Hours separately from Store Hours and Pharmacy Hours.
A grocery trip and a fuel stop therefore can involve two different closing times at the same Safeway property. The store’s late closing time should not be used as the assumed cutoff for buying fuel.
DriveUp & Go Pickup Uses Service Windows
Safeway’s curbside grocery pickup service is branded DriveUp & Go. Participating stores allow customers to select Pickup when ordering online and choose from available pickup times before collecting the completed order at the store.
Those available windows are a separate scheduling layer from ordinary walk-in shopping. Safeway’s online shopping information states that pickup availability depends on the location and available time slots, and individual fulfillment pages can publish dedicated DriveUp & Go hours.
Delivery follows a similar model. Safeway publishes delivery availability across most locations during broad daily service periods, but the actual choices presented to a customer depend on the selected store, service availability and open reservation windows.
Which Safeway Schedule Matters for Your Visit
For ordinary grocery shopping, the main Store Hours are the relevant schedule. Prescription pickup or pharmacist service depends on Pharmacy Hours instead. A fuel purchase depends on the fuel station’s schedule, while a curbside order must fit the available DriveUp & Go pickup window.
Not every Safeway has the same combination of services. The location record for a particular store identifies which departments and fulfillment options are offered there, preventing a store’s general operating hours from being mistaken for the schedule of a service that closes earlier or is not present at that location.
